Vision 2020

Your Virtual Vision 2020:   Walking Away Wasn’t An Option

It would have been easy to simply walk away. Easy but not even close to being a consideration by an organization with 82 years of history on its side – a history marked by countless challenges that have been fearlessly met and overcome.

When COVID darkened our world, Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (CPS-ECP) and Western Ontario District representatives looked ahead to October and the planned hosting of the 2020 Annual Conference and AGM in Windsor. They quickly determined the show must and will go on, and then rolled up their collective sleeves. The result? An exciting and ground breaking virtual staging of Vision 2020 that has unprecedented full access for all CPS-ECP members at its core.

From the comfort of your own home, Vision 2020 – October 19 to 25 – is yours to take in as you wish, choosing to attend the sessions of your choice and/or the Annual General Meeting as well as hear from keynote speaker Bert terHart, a member of the Gabriola Power and Sail Squadron who recently circumnavigated the globe aboard Seaburban – the first North American to sail solo non-stop through all five capes using only celestial navigation.

But Vision 2020 isn’t all work and no play. Far from it.

With the theme All That Glitters, the virtual Hospitality Room will see the Western Ontario District host the much anticipated annual award presentations and roll out the welcome mat for a fun time socializing with prizes awarded for best dressed according to the theme. And yes, the bar – your bar – is open.

Registration for the Annual General Meeting, which is required of all Vision 2020 attendees, is free. Members need to register to the AGM in advance to vote. The deadline has been extended to October 16th. Register here: https://www.cps-ecp.ca/ecommerce/event/vision-2020-virtual-national-conference-and-agm/

Registration for the Seminars and Special Events costs $35 and includes full access to all Vision 2020 presentations and seminars, Bert terHart’s talk, Hospitality Room entrance to All That Glitters and much more.

Registration for the Seminars and Special Events closes October 16. The fee partially covers the costs associated with securing the various platforms and associated technology that’s required to present Vision 2020 virtually.

To register for the AGM and/or the Seminars and Special Events, visit https://www.cps-ecp.ca/ecommerce/event/vision-2020-virtual-national-conference-and-agm/ .   A separate registration for the AGM and for the Seminars and Special Events must be completed by all registrants.

Access links for the Annual General Meeting will be communicated prior to it being held along with instructions on how to vote on the various motions put forward. Meanwhile, those who purchase the Special Sessions Package will be emailed Microsoft Live Event access links in a timely fashion.

Yes, it would have been easy to walk away. Isn’t this much better?
For sure it is. All we ask of you is your patience. We’re breaking new ground with the virtual presentation of Vision 2020. As exciting as that is for the organizers, it’s fraught with challenges. Then again, challenges are nothing new for CPS-ECP. Neither is meeting and overcoming them.

Read the detailed agenda of the Conference below.

See you soon!
